In posting this recommendation, it behooves any of us who click on this link to acknowledge in our hearts the debt we owe to Douglas C. Engelbart, whose visions of computer technology have empowered all who are using this equipment to expand the possibilities of literate citizenship. In the past, one of the ways we posthumously honored someone who had made an important contribution was to issue a likeness on a postage stamp. Given the rate at which the post office is being dismantled by Congress, it is unlikely that Douglas C. Engelbart will have such an honor, but he deserves it.
